Founder & President
Mark Ladd
Mark Ladd is the Founder and President of Republic Tax, a company he started in 2004 with a simple goal: to help individuals and businesses understand their tax problems, make better decisions, and find a path forward. A first-generation American, Mark was raised with a strong respect for hard work, responsibility, and service. His father served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and Mark later continued that tradition of service in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard fast-attack submarines during the Persian Gulf War era. His time in the military shaped much of the way he still approaches business today — with discipline, attention to detail, accountability, and a belief that leadership starts with being willing to do the work yourself.
After leaving the Navy, Mark attended the USC Marshall School of Business, graduating summa cum laude. He began his professional career with one of the largest accounting firms in the nation, BDO USA, where he worked on projects involving major companies including Northrop Grumman, Toyota and Amgen. That experience gave him a strong foundation in accounting, business operations, financial analysis, and planning.
Mark eventually moved into independent consulting, working closely with small-business owners and helping them improve performance through better planning, financial discipline, and tax strategy. Those years of hands-on consulting became the foundation for what would eventually become Republic Tax.
What began in 2004 as a small boutique office in Southern California has grown into a national tax resolution organization with multiple offices and a team that includes tax attorneys, CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and experienced tax professionals. Today, Republic Tax assists individuals and businesses with tax resolution, compliance, planning, and complex IRS and state tax matters.
Mark remains actively involved in the company and in the day-to-day work of serving clients. He believes strongly in giving employees the opportunity to grow, take ownership, and push themselves beyond what they thought they could accomplish. He sets high expectations, but he also believes leadership means being available, accountable, and willing to step in wherever needed.
“CEO and Janitor.”
The sign on his office door reflects the way he has always approached the company. No job is beneath anyone. No task is too small. If something needs to be done to help a client, support an employee, or improve the company, Mark believes you simply get to work.

That same philosophy carries over to Republic Tax’s clients. Mark takes a personal interest in the work being done and stays involved to help ensure cases are handled carefully and with the goal of achieving the best resolution available based on each client’s individual circumstances.
Outside of work, Mark is a father of three adult children and a grandfather of three. He enjoys fishing, traveling, gardening, working on cars, and tackling home improvement projects — activities that give him a chance to slow down, work with his hands, and occasionally turn his brain off for a while.

More than two decades after founding Republic Tax, Mark remains deeply committed to the company, the people who work there, and, above all, the clients who place their trust in the firm.
